On Season 2 Episode 4, “The Art of Eucharistic Hospitality: A Practitioner’s Perspective,” we interview the Rev. Chris Myers, associate rector at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in East Dallas. He helps us flesh out our earlier discussion with David Fitch on the three tables from his books Faithful Presence and Seven Missional Practices. We continue our year-long exploration of the theme Missional Ecclesiology leading up to the 2019 Intersection Conference.

Our host, the Rev. Erik Willits, begins by asking Chris to share how St. Bart’s is extending the second table of discipleship and formation in their community, and how they keep relationship-building oriented toward mission. Chris tells us why his first priority is getting people to the Eucharistic Table.

In the second part of the podcast, Chris talks about the framework that makes a local expression of church central to mission. He shares ways St. Bart’s is encouraging people to hear God’s voice, become aware of his presence and go out into the world.

On the last portion of the podcast, Chris discusses what missional ecclesiology has to say about individualism. He weighs in on how beauty helps us to live on mission, and why our conversation on beauty should never be, “Is our service pretty enough?”
